Mr Chaib receives Swiss Minister of Justice and Police

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, received on Monday the Minister of Justice and Police of the Swiss Confederation, Beat Jans, who is paying a working visit to Algeria.

During this meeting, the two parties welcomed the historic friendship relations uniting the two countries and reviewed the state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for strengthening it in mutually beneficial fields.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the two parties chaired the signing ceremony of the declaration of intent for the creation of a permanent mechanism for dialogue on migration-related issues with a view to sharing and exchanging expertise and best practices in this field.

In a statement following the signing ceremony, Chaib affirmed that this declaration, signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to be a tangible implementation of one of the main recommendations of the Algerian-Swiss dialogue meeting on migration-related issues, which was held last year in the Swiss capital, Bern.

This is a document aimed essentially at institutionalizing this dialogue so as to share and exchange experiences and best practices regarding migration-related issues, through dialogues, periodic meetings and the exchange of different successful experiences between the two countries.

For his part, the Swiss Minister of Justice and Police, Beat Jans highlighted the close cooperation between Algeria and Switzerland in the field of migration and police cooperation, with the two countries working as partners driven by a sincere will to strengthen this cooperation, which is very positive.
