Mr. Chaib meets with members of the Algerian community in Montreal

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, began a working visit to Canada on Monday, during which he held an interactive meeting with members of the diaspora established within the consular jurisdiction of Montreal, with the participation, via videoconference from Algiers, of the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to Ottawa and the Consul General.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the prospects of strengthening the contribution of Algeria’s skilled diaspora in Canada to the country's national development.

In an address, Chaib underscored that "the national community abroad represents a strategic pillar in the process of building the new and victorious Algeria, given its skills and expertise, stressing the firm will of the country’s highest authorities to involve them more deeply in Algeria’s national development.

He also highlighted the important political gains achieved for the benefit of members of the national community, notably through the increase in the number of seats reserved for them in Parliament, with the allocation of two seats for the American continent.

Chaib also highlighted  the state's efforts and initiatives for the benefit of Algerian citizens abroad, notably the ongoing modernization and digitalization of consular services, to simplify procedures and improvethe quality of public service, the mobilization and strengthening of the participation of Algerian skilled professionals established abroad in the national development process, in addition to the support for cultural and educational initiatives aimed at preserving national identity and anchoring the bonds of belonging among future generations.
