Mr Chaib heads Algerian delegation at 163rd ordinary session of Arab League Council of FMs

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, led the Algerian delegation participating in the 163rd session of the Arab League Council at the level of Foreign Ministers.
The 163rd session was held at the League’s General Secretariat headquarters under the chairmanship of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The proceedings of the session were devoted to examining developments in Arab issues, primarily the Palestinian cause which remains central to the Arab Nation, as well as the situations in Syria, Sudan and Somalia, in addition to Arab cooperation processes with regional and international parties.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm Algeria’s unwavering commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people, especially given the critical situation they currently face, while calling for an end to the aggression, delivery of humanitarian aid and contribution to the reconstruction of what the Zionist Entity has destroyed. Algeria also expressed support for efforts to secure Palestine’s admission as a full UN member state and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, with al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital.
Emphasis was also placed on Algeria’s commitment to strengthening joint Arab action and establishing the principle of solidarity in the face of regional challenges.

After having commended Algeria’s efforts as a non-permanent Arab member of the Security Council in favor of the Palestinian cause, the Arab League Council welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of Algeria’s guidelines on terrorism financing.
The Council also congratulated Algeria on successfully chairing the negotiations that led to the adoption of a comprehensive international convention on combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.

On the sidelines of the 163rd ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, the Secretary of State participated in the meeting of the Arab ministerial committee on al-Quds al-Sharif, where he “reiterated Algeria’s constant stance regarding al-Quds al-Sharif, as well as its support for international efforts aimed at preserving its identity and stopping Israeli violations against this sacred city.
