Algeria in the UN Security Council
Algeria was elected on the 6th june 2023, by the United Nations General Assembly in New York, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2024-2025.
Algeria will start its term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council on 1 January 2024 and its membership will run until 31 December 2025.
The other newly-elected non-permanent members are Sierra Leone, South Korea, Guyana and Slovenia.
It is Algeria's fourth term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, after those of 1968-1969, 1988-1989 and 2004-2005.
