Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Libya 13/05/2025

Algeria is closely monitoring with deep concern the resumption of armed clashes among Libyans in Tripoli, which have resulted in loss of life and the depletion of this brotherly nation’s resources.

In light of this serious escalation, Algeria urges all Libyan parties to engage in dialogue as the sole means to resolve disputes, demonstrate a strong sense of national responsibility, and prioritize Libya’s supreme interests above short-term or narrow considerations.

Algeria further emphasized that sisterly Libya, now more than ever, needs the unity and reconciliation of its people, free from division and discord, to advance the UN-led political process toward a long-awaited resolution.
