Mrs Mansouri supervises the opening of the African Arts and Culture Exhibition
Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, said on Monday in Algiers that Africa Day is an occasion to affirm that history does not forget and that justice is not a temporary demand but a collective right.
In her speech at the opening ceremony of the World Africa Day organized by the African Group at the Moufdi-Zakaria Palace of Culture, Mansouri said that Africa Day is an occasion to reaffirm that history does not forget, and that justice is not a temporary demand, but a collective right, where past and present intertwine to build a future based on our will and our dignity.
She said that the celebration of this day is an opportunity to pay solemn tribute to the struggles of African peoples against barbaric colonization and slavery, as well as against all forms of exploitation and discrimination, and to salute the sacrifices of the generations who paved the way towards the unity and independence of the continent.
This year’s celebration takes place under a strong and highly symbolic slogan, namely Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through the Issue of Reparations, emphasizing that this slogan reflects Africa’s commitment to rehabilitate its history and to demand historical justice capable of restoring the dignity of all victims of the great injustices that marked past centuries.
In this regard, she affirmed that Algeria, under the leadership of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirms its full support for this emancipatory vision, rooted in a history of common struggle, for which Algeria has always been at the forefront and to which it remains deeply committed.
Furthermore, Mansouri highlighted the role of the President of the Republic, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Forum of Heads of State and Government of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), in achieving good governance and social justice as foundations of the overall African renaissance, as well as in strengthening South-South and tripartite cooperation as tools to seal equitable and balanced partnerships.
As a leader of the African Union in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, she added that the President of the Republic continues to promote an integrated approach that rehabilitates human security and establishes a link between stability, development, and justice as a sine qua non condition for the development of resilient and prosperous societies.
