Mr.Attaf receives Special Representative of UN SG and MANUEL Head

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (MANUL), on Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters. Tetteh is currently visiting Algeria.
The Minister of State congratulated Hanna Serwaa Tetteh on her appointment as head of the UN mission in Libya, reaffirming Algeria’s readiness to provide her with all forms of support in the accomplishment of her noble mission.
During these talks, the two sides exchanged views and analyses on developments in the Libyan context, as well as prospects for resolving the crisis in this brotherly country.
Mr Attaf reiterated Algeria’s position and its core principles, emphasizing that the Libyan crisis can only be resolved through an inclusive and unifying Libyan process, without any exclusions, with the ultimate goal of strengthening Libyan national unity and preserving the territorial integrity of this brotherly nation.
The Foreign Minister also stressed that resolving the Libyan crisis must prioritize and aim for the unification of all Libyan national institutions and the elimination of all forms of division and fragmentation within the Libyan landscape.
He further underscored that the key to resolving the Libyan crisis lies in putting an end to all forms of foreign interference and allowing Libyans to determine their future, while also emphasizing the organization of free and transparent elections capable of conferring legitimacy on the institutions of the Libyan state, which must remain sovereign and in control of its own decisions.
