Mr. Attaf holds bilateral talks with the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf met, Thursday in New York, with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, as part of his participation in the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly (GA).

The meeting which follows the discussions held between the two parties on September 16 in Algiers, enabled discussing the developments of the Sahrawi cause, in anticipation of the Security Council meeting on the Western Sahara question scheduled for next October.

In this regard, Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s constant position in favor of UN efforts aimed at achieving a just, lasting and definitive settlement to the Western Sahara question, capable of guaranteeing the Sahrawi people the exercise of their inalienable and imprescriptible right to auto-determination.
