Algeria begins its term as non-permanent member of UN Security Council

Algeria began its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday.

The national flag was installed at UN headquarters, alongside those of other Council members, by Algeria's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amar Bendjama.

On this occasion, Ambassador Bendjama delivered a speech in which he outlined the priorities of Algeria's mandate and its commitment to world peace and security.

Algeria's mandate will be devoted to fulfilling the firm commitment, repeatedly expressed by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to bring the voice of Africa to this central UN body.

Algeria begins its term alongside the other non-permanent members, Sierra Leone, South Korea, Guyana and Slovenia.
